What else happens to research outside conventional academic publications and growth of fundamental knowledge? There is an application side to it. Patenting, licensing, collaborations and partnerships with industry to bring new products to the market are all parts of technology transfer field. It takes a team of experts who excited and knowledgeable about the science and are open to learning business development hoops to execute on deals and bring early-stage technologies to the market. This seminar hosts UIC's Svetlana Kurilova as she shares her journey from PhD to Technology Manager at the Office of Technology Management (OTM). This seminar is for PhD and Postdocs to learn more about the career paths available at institutional tech transfer offices. We would encourage PhD students and Postdocs interested in patenting, tech transfer, research marketing and commercialization to attend.
