About
Mike joined the University of Illinois at Chicago's Office of Technology Management as a Technology Manager in July 2025. His work focuses on the physical sciences, where he collaborates with engineering faculty and students to commercialize their innovations.
Mike comes to the OTM from industry, where he worked as a corporate, in-house patent agent, creating IP value during the development of products, including power tools, automation systems, heavy equipment, and heat transfer systems, among others. Before moving into corporate work, Mike prosecuted patent applications and conducted patent research in the law firm environment. He has managed large, global patent portfolios and worked with individual inventors to achieve value through IP. Mike began his career as an engineer in the automotive and automation industries, where his areas of concentration were business development and manufacturing processes.
Mike received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy and has a Master's in Liberal Studies from Northwestern University. Mike is a registered U.S. patent agent.
